International Mountaineering Competitions will take place in Tajikistan

International Mountaineering Competitions will take place in the Pamirs from the 3rd to 22nd July, 2012. Mountains of Zamin-Karor will become the ground where the athletes from different countries will take part in mountaineering competitions. It will be for the first time in the history of the world mountaineering.

Teams from Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Ukraine, Belorussia, France, Croatia, Iran and other countries are expected to participate in the competitions. The pairs will take part in the competitions consisting of two stages. The first stage is qualification competitions (“School”) where athletes climb short rock routes 100-150 metres long and demonstrate climbing technique. The second stage is the marathon during which the team climbs the maximum possible number of routes of the highest difficulty grade. The winner will be determined according to the total score after the School and rating of the climbed routes in the marathon.

This year the competitions are organized in Zamin-Karor because last year CIS Mountaineering Championship took place there in which 15 teams from Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Ukraine took part.  The mountain area of Zamin-Karor goes very well for organizing international competitions at the highest level as it is good for both sports and life.

Comfortable living conditions in the camping, accessibility of the main grounds of the competitions for the spectators, the possibility of watching the most of the routes in the massif from the base camp – all these things allow satisfying the needs of the athletes from different countries.

The competitions’ organizers pay special attention how to help the participants with transfer to the settlement Margeb which is near Zamin-Karor and there the base Camp will be set up. On arrival day the meeting of participants in the airport will be organized, they will obtain the entry visa to Tajikistan. The athletes will be given discounts from airlines for baggage allowance to 40 kg.

The competitions’ organizers are sure that besides this the athletes will enjoy the communication with mountaineers from different countries, experience exchange and establishing relations for future international climbs.
